Summary: This volume is an attempt to redress these theoritical and empirical lacunae in relation to the role of women and their labour in tho process of economic globalisation. The overarching framework of the analysis of women's labour in this volume is, therefore, one which explores the relationship between the national political economy and its position within the global economic system. Particular reference is made to economic globalisation processes and their impact on women's labour in the context of specific conditions of national development within the region. Accordingly, different aspects of the economic globalisation process are examined from women's points of view in relation to their interests and experiences.
