Summary, etc. The book starts with exploring the impact of colonial rule on the economy. Among other things, the agriculture sector entailed major suffering as a consequence of the policies of the British colonial government. Indian agriculture was characterized by stagnancy, deterioration, absence of technology and low productivity. Then we look at agricultural policies of independent India. Subsequently the book discusses about various aspects of agricultural namely marketing, insurance, etc. Additionally, ther is a discussion about various government schemes for agricultural and agricultural reforms. Then it looks at the importance of food processing as the key to provide alternative employment inorder to relieve population pressure on land. Lastly, there is a short discussion of agricultural reforms in India.
