This book traces the history of the Indian educational system through 150 years of colonial rule against the background of the changing social, political and economic conditions in England and India. Changes in the educational structure since independence to the beginning of the fifth olane period have been discussed and future lines of development outlined.
The late Dr. J. P. Naik was member secretary of the Indian Council of Social Science Research and closely associated with Indian education for over two decades. Dr. Syed Nurullah was also associated with education Departments and was Pro- vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University.
